Why lease a Citroen C3?

Leasing keeps things simple and affordable: fixed monthly payments, a brand-new C3 under warranty for the whole term, road tax included, and no worry about resale value. The C3's real appeal is comfort and value. Citroen's Advanced Comfort suspension gives it a genuinely soft, settled ride that's rare in a small car, the raised stance makes it easy to get in and out of, and the cabin keeps physical climate controls and a clear 10.25-inch touchscreen. It's an ideal first car, city runabout or affordable second car — and, as the ë-C3, one of the cheapest ways into a brand-new electric car.

Petrol, hybrid or electric: which Citroen C3 should you lease?

The C3 is unusual for a small car in offering three completely different powertrains. Here's how to choose.

1.2 Turbo petrol (manual)

The 1.2 Turbo (PureTech 100) is the simplest and usually cheapest way into a C3: a 100 hp turbo petrol with a six-speed manual, 0–62 mph in 10.6 seconds and around 50 mpg. Reassuringly, this engine now uses a timing chain rather than the belt of older PureTech units. Lease it if you do modest mileage, prefer a manual and want the lowest monthly cost, it's the sensible everyday choice.

1.2 Hybrid 110 (automatic, 48V hybrid)

The Hybrid 110 pairs the petrol engine with a 48-volt hybrid system and an automatic (e-DCS6) gearbox. It's a mild hybrid, not a plug-in you never charge it but it can run on electric power for up to around half your driving time in town, which lifts economy to the high-50s mpg and makes it smoother and quieter in traffic. Lease it if you want an automatic and better town economy than the manual petrol, without moving to a full EV.

ë-C3 electric: 44kWh Standard Range

The ë-C3 is the fully electric C3, with an 83 kW (113 hp) motor. The 44kWh Standard Range battery gives an official 199 miles (WLTP) , enough for most commutes and everyday use with charging every few days. Lease it if you can charge at home or work and want the lowest running costs and lowest company-car tax. It's one of the most affordable new EVs on the market.

ë-C3 electric: 30kWh Urban Range

The cheaper 30kWh Urban Range ë-C3 offers around 124–130 miles (WLTP). It's aimed squarely at city drivers and shorter commutes, and it's the most affordable ë-C3 to lease. Choose it if your journeys are mostly local and you want an EV at the lowest possible monthly price; if you regularly drive further, the 44kWh Standard Range is the safer pick.

How far does the ë-C3 go, and how do you charge it?

The 44kWh ë-C3 covers up to 199 miles on a charge (WLTP); the 30kWh Urban Range around 124–130 miles. Real-world range will be lower, especially in winter, but both are comfortable for daily urban and commuter use. Charging is straightforward: rapid DC charging up to 100 kW tops the battery from 20–80% in about 26 minutes, so motorway stops are quick; a standard 7.4 kW home wallbox gives a full charge in around six to seven hours (ideal for overnight), and an optional 11 kW upgrade cuts AC charging further if you have a compatible supply. For a small, city-focused EV these are sensible, real-world charging figures.

Citroen C3 trim levels: Plus, Collection and Max

The C3 range is refreshingly simple — three trims, all well equipped. On the ë-C3, trim also determines the battery: Plus comes with the 30kWh Urban Range battery, while Collection and Max get the 44kWh Standard Range.

Plus

The entry trim, and far from basic: 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, automatic lights and wipers, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a two-tone roof. On the ë-C3 it's paired with the 30kWh battery.

Collection

The mid trim, and on the ë-C3 the cheapest way to get the larger 44kWh battery. It adds a reversing camera and rear privacy glass over Plus — a sensible step up.

Max

The top trim, with the most comfort and tech: sat-nav, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming mirror, front fog lights, and heated front seats, steering wheel and windscreen — genuinely useful on cold mornings. On the ë-C3 it uses the 44kWh battery.

What's the Citroen C3 like to live with?

The C3's stand-out quality is comfort. Citroen's Advanced Comfort suspension soaks up bumps better than almost anything else in the class, and the Advanced Comfort seats are soft and supportive — this is a small car that's genuinely relaxing on a longer drive. At 4.01m long but taller than the old C3, it has a high, commanding driving position, good headroom and class-leading rear legroom for its size, plus a bright cabin with a clever fabric dashboard strip. The boot holds 310 litres — competitive for a small hatchback and identical across petrol, hybrid and electric versions — though it's a deep rather than long space without a false floor. It seats five and suits city and everyday family use well.

One honest note on safety: the latest C3 and ë-C3 have not been tested by Euro NCAP, so there's no independent star rating to quote. Standard safety kit includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assistance, speed-limit recognition and driver attention alert. If an up-to-date Euro NCAP rating is important to you, that's worth bearing in mind when comparing rivals.

Running costs and company-car tax

Fuel, charging and insurance

The petrol C3 returns around 50 mpg and the Hybrid 110 high-50s, so both are cheap to fuel. The ë-C3 is cheaper still to run if you charge at home on an off-peak EV tariff — a full charge costs a few pounds versus filling a petrol tank. Insurance is reasonable on the petrol and hybrid; note the ë-C3 sits a little higher (around group 24) than some budget EV rivals, so factor that in.

Company-car tax (BIK) and road tax

For business and company-car drivers the ë-C3 is the clear winner: as a pure EV it sits in the 4% Benefit-in-Kind band for 2026/27 (rising gently to 5%, 7% then 9% over following years), far below the petrol and hybrid versions, whose CO2 emissions put them in much higher BIK bands. Road tax (VED) now applies to all cars including EVs since April 2025, but on a CarLeasing lease it's included for the contract, so it's handled for you across every powertrain.

Citroen C3 warranty

Every new C3 comes with Citroen's standard three-year/60,000-mile warranty (no mileage limit in the first two years). Beyond that, Citroën We Care can extend cover on key components — engine, gearbox, transmission and drivetrain — up to eight years or 100,000 miles, provided the car is serviced on schedule at a Citroen authorised repairer (terms apply; it applies to cars registered from mid-2025). The ë-C3's drive battery has its own separate eight-year/100,000-mile warranty, guaranteed to at least 70% of capacity. On a typical lease you're covered by the standard warranty throughout; the extended cover matters most if you keep servicing it in the Citroen network. This is the manufacturer's warranty — road tax on your lease is included separately as part of the CarLeasing deal.

Citroen C3 vs C3 Aircross: which is right for you?

The C3 hatchback and the larger C3 Aircross share Citroen's small-car platform, but they're different cars for different needs. The C3 is the compact, easy-to-park hatchback that suits city and everyday driving. The C3 Aircross is a small SUV — taller, roomier, available with more seats — and a better fit if you need more space or a higher driving position and can accept a slightly higher monthly cost. If you're choosing between them, compare a C3 hatchback deal against a C3 Aircross deal before you commit.

How the Citroen C3 compares to rivals

The C3's case against rivals is comfort and value. As a petrol or hybrid, weigh it against the Dacia Sandero, Vauxhall Corsa, Renault Clio, Hyundai i20, MG3 Hybrid and Skoda Fabia — most drive a little more sharply, but few match the C3's ride comfort. As the electric ë-C3, its low price makes it one of the strongest budget EVs, up against the Fiat Grande Panda Electric (its closest sibling), Dacia Spring, Renault 5, Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Hyundai Inster. Some of those rivals go further on a charge or handle better, but the ë-C3 counters with comfort, space and a very low price. Compare the live monthly prices side by side.

Personal vs business Citroen C3 leasing

On personal leasing (PCH), prices are shown including VAT — you choose term and mileage, pay an initial rental, then fixed monthly payments with road tax and delivery included. On business leasing (contract hire), prices are shown excluding VAT, which VAT-registered businesses can usually partly reclaim. For a business fleet or salary-sacrifice scheme, the ë-C3 is especially attractive thanks to its 4% company-car tax; the petrol and hybrid make more sense as low-cost personal or pool-car choices.

Citroen C3 lease FAQs

How much does it cost to lease a Citroen C3?

It depends on the powertrain, trim, contract length, annual mileage and initial rental. The 1.2 Turbo petrol is usually the cheapest way in, with the hybrid and electric versions costing a little more per month see the live deals above for current personal (inc VAT) and business (exc VAT) prices.

Is the Citroen C3 Hybrid a plug-in?

No. The 1.2 Hybrid 110 is a 48-volt mild hybrid — you never plug it in. It uses a small electric motor to assist the petrol engine and can run on electric power for short spells at low speed, improving town economy. Only the ë-C3 is a plug-in electric car.

How far does the electric ë-C3 go on a charge?

Up to 199 miles (WLTP) with the 44kWh Standard Range battery, or around 124–130 miles with the cheaper 30kWh Urban Range battery. Real-world range is lower, especially in cold weather.

How quickly does the ë-C3 charge?

About 26 minutes for a 20–80% top-up on a 100 kW rapid charger, or around six to seven hours for a full charge on a 7.4 kW home wallbox. An optional 11 kW on-board charger speeds up AC charging if you have a compatible supply.

What trims does the Citroen C3 come in?

Three: Plus, Collection and Max. Plus is the well-equipped entry trim; Collection adds a reversing camera and privacy glass; Max adds sat-nav, wireless charging, climate control and heated front seats, wheel and windscreen. On the ë-C3, Plus has the 30kWh battery while Collection and Max get the 44kWh battery.
