The History of DS
The DS name has a rich heritage. The original Citroën DS, launched in 1955, was a landmark car — famous for its aerodynamic shape and pioneering hydropneumatic suspension, and instantly recognisable decades later (including its cameo in Back to the Future Part II). The name comes from the French "Déesse", meaning goddess.
DS Automobiles became a standalone premium brand in 2014, carrying that spirit of distinctive French design into a modern range. It's part of the Stellantis group, which gives DS an established UK dealer, servicing and warranty network behind every car.
