Why Lease a Jeep Renegade?
The Renegade is one of the few compact SUVs that looks like a proper Jeep. Its boxy, upright design, round headlights and seven-slot grille give it real character next to softer-looking rivals, and the tall windows and high seating position make the cabin feel airy and easy to see out of.
Under the skin it is thoroughly modern, with two electrified powertrains that suit very different drivers. The 1.5 e-Hybrid is the low-hassle choice: it charges itself, so you get lower fuel bills without ever plugging in. The 1.3 Turbo 4xe is the plug-in hybrid flagship, adding genuine four-wheel-drive traction and a useful electric-only range for cheaper commuting.
Top reasons to lease a Renegade
Distinctive Jeep style – stands out from mainstream compact SUVs.
Two electrified engines – self-charging e-Hybrid or plug-in 4xe.
Four-wheel drive available – the 4xe adds Jeep's off-road-ready 4x4 traction.
Low company-car tax on the 4xe – 12% BiK versus 30% for the e-Hybrid.
Five-star safety – a maximum Euro NCAP rating with a strong standard safety kit.
Fixed monthly cost – road tax included, manufacturer warranty for the typical lease term, and no resale worries at the end.
Which Jeep Renegade Powertrain Is Right for You?
Both Renegade powertrains in our listing are automatic. Here is how they compare on the numbers that matter for a lease.
1.5 e-Hybrid 130 – 130hp; 0–62mph in about 9.7 seconds; 7-speed DCT auto; front-wheel drive; up to 52.3mpg; 126g/km CO2; 351-litre boot; 30% BiK; on North Star and Summit.
1.3 Turbo 4xe PHEV 240 – 240PS; 0–62mph in 7.1 seconds; 6-speed auto; four-wheel drive; up to around 26–30 miles electric range and up to 134.5mpg (WLTP); 48g/km CO2; 330-litre boot; 12% BiK; on North Star only.
Figures are manufacturer WLTP figures. Real-world range and economy vary with weather, speed and driving style.
Jeep Renegade 1.5 e-Hybrid
The e-Hybrid is the easy, lower-cost way into a Renegade lease. A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a small electric motor to produce 130hp, driving through a smooth 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. You never plug it in: the battery tops itself up as you drive and brake, and the electric motor can move the car at low speeds, such as when creeping in traffic or parking.
It returns up to 52.3mpg on the combined cycle and has the larger 351-litre boot. Choose it if you want the lowest monthly rental, do a mix of driving, or simply can't charge at home.
Jeep Renegade 1.3 Turbo 4xe PHEV 240
The 4xe is the performance and capability flagship. A 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and electric motors combine for 240PS and, crucially, four-wheel drive, with the rear axle driven electrically. That gives the Renegade genuine all-weather traction and a brisk 0–62mph time of 7.1 seconds, the quickest in the range.
Its 11.4kWh battery provides an official electric-only range of around 26–30 miles, enough for many daily commutes with no petrol used at all. On the WLTP combined cycle it quotes up to 134.5mpg, and CO2 of 48g/km puts it in the low 12% BiK band, a big saving for company car drivers versus the e-Hybrid's 30%. It is offered in North Star trim only.
Jeep Renegade Trims Explained
There are two Renegade trims in our listing: North Star and Summit. The 4xe plug-in hybrid is available in North Star only.
North Star
The entry trim is well equipped. It includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, privacy glass, a reversing camera, a digital driver display, a central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and Jeep's standard suite of driver aids. Available on both the e-Hybrid and the 4xe plug-in hybrid.
Summit
Summit builds on North Star and is the trim most reviewers recommend on the e-Hybrid. It adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and blind-spot detection, plus the option of a more flexible 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat. Available on the e-Hybrid.
Which trim should you lease?
Lowest monthly cost: North Star – already comes with alloys, a sunroof, privacy glass and a reversing camera.
Best all-rounder: Summit e-Hybrid – the heated seats and steering wheel, keyless entry and blind-spot monitoring make daily driving more comfortable and are worth the small premium.
Performance and 4x4: the 4xe PHEV 240 in North Star trim, the only way to get four-wheel drive and the electric-only mode.
Jeep Renegade Running Costs and Tax
Road tax is included in every Car Leasing Renegade deal, so your main running costs are fuel or charging, insurance and, for company car drivers, Benefit-in-Kind tax.
1.5 e-Hybrid – 30% BiK, insurance group 17E: best for personal leasing and drivers who can't charge at home. Up to 52.3mpg with no plugging in.
1.3 Turbo 4xe PHEV 240 – 12% BiK, insurance group 26E: best for company car drivers and anyone who can charge at home. The low BiK rate makes it far cheaper as a company car, and short commutes can run largely on electricity.
The e-Hybrid Summit is only worth choosing over North Star for the extra comfort kit, not to save tax; both e-Hybrid trims sit in the same BiK band. To get the low 12% company-car rate you need the 4xe plug-in hybrid.
Space, Practicality and Comfort
The Renegade's boxy shape makes the most of its footprint. The e-Hybrid has a 351-litre boot, while the 4xe's under-floor battery reduces this slightly to 330 litres. A 60/40 split-folding rear seat is standard, and Summit offers a more flexible 40/20/40 split as an option. Rear passenger space is tighter than in some rivals, so it is worth trying the back seats if you regularly carry adults.
Where the Renegade scores is visibility and comfort: the tall glass and upright windscreen give a commanding view out, and the high-set seats make it easy to get in and out. Summit's heated front seats and heated steering wheel add welcome comfort in winter.
Technology and Safety
Every Renegade in our listing has a digital driver display and a central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can mirror your phone for navigation and music. North Star adds a reversing camera as standard, and Summit adds keyless entry and blind-spot detection.
On safety, the Renegade holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating and comes with a suite of driver-assistance systems including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and driver-attention alert. The 4xe adds the reassurance of on-demand four-wheel drive for poor weather and loose surfaces.
Personal Leasing a Jeep Renegade
Personal contract hire (PCH) lets you drive a brand-new Renegade for a fixed monthly payment. You pay an initial rental, followed by the monthly rentals for your chosen term, then hand the car back at the end. Choose your annual mileage up front so it matches your driving and you avoid excess-mileage charges. Personal prices on this page include VAT.
Jeep Renegade Contract Hire for Business
Business contract hire is available to limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. VAT-registered businesses can usually reclaim up to 50% of the VAT on rentals for a car with private use, and 100% on any maintenance package. For company car drivers, the 4xe plug-in hybrid's 12% BiK rate makes it far cheaper to run as a company car than the 30% e-Hybrid. Business prices are shown excluding VAT.
