Why lease a Mercedes EQB?

Leasing is a natural fit for an electric family SUV like the EQB. You pay a fixed monthly rental for a brand-new car, avoid the large upfront cost of buying, and hand it back at the end of the term, so you are never exposed to what a used EV is worth down the line, which matters in a fast-moving electric market.

The EQB suits leasing well for a few reasons:

  • It is a genuine seven-seat electric SUV. Very few electric cars offer seven seats, and the EQB is among the most affordable. That flexibility is hard to find elsewhere.

  • It has a premium Mercedes cabin. The EQB uses the brand's MBUX system and high-quality interior, so it feels a class above many family EVs.

  • Strong safety. The EQB holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, with an excellent 95% for adult occupant protection and 91% for child occupant protection, reassuring for a family car.

  • Low company-car tax. As a full EV, the EQB sits in a very low Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) band, which makes it an efficient business and salary-sacrifice choice.

The EQB's big advantage: seven seats and electric

This is the reason most people choose an EQB, so it is worth being clear about how it works.

Every EQB comes with seven seats, arranged as a 5+2 layout: five full seats plus a pair of extra seats that fold up out of the boot floor. The third row is best suited to children or shorter adults on shorter journeys, which is normal for a compact seven-seater. With all seven seats in use the boot is small, but fold the third row away and you have a large, practical family boot of around 465 to 495 litres, expanding much further with the middle row folded too.

That combination, seven seats, a premium badge and zero tailpipe emissions, is genuinely rare. Most seven-seat family cars are still petrol or diesel, and most electric SUVs this size only seat five. If you need occasional extra seats and want to go electric, the EQB is one of the few cars that does both.

EQB 250+ vs EQB 300 4Matic: which to lease?

There are two versions in the range. Here is how they compare.

EQB 250+ (front-wheel drive)

The core choice for most drivers. A single electric motor drives the front wheels with around 188bhp, and it uses the larger 70.5kWh battery for the longest range in the range, up to around 320 miles. It is smooth, quiet and more than quick enough (0 to 62mph in around 8.9 seconds). If range and value matter most, this is the one to lease.

EQB 300 4Matic (all-wheel drive)

Adds a second electric motor for 4Matic all-wheel drive and more power (around 225 to 228bhp), cutting the 0 to 62mph time to around 8.0 seconds. The trade-off is range, which is lower than the 250+. Choose the 300 4Matic if you want the extra grip of all-wheel drive for poor weather or a more confident drive, and you are happy to accept slightly less range.

EQB range, battery and charging

Here is the practical picture for everyday running.

Range. The EQB 250+ has an official WLTP range of up to around 320 miles (the exact figure varies by trim and wheel size, with the entry Sport trim going furthest). The 4Matic versions have a lower range because of the extra motor and weight. In real-world driving expect a little less than the official figure, especially in cold weather or at motorway speeds, but the 250+ comfortably covers a week of typical family driving on a charge.

Charging.

  • Home wallbox (7kW): an overnight charge for everyday use. On an 11kW supply the EQB charges a little faster.

  • Rapid public charging: the EQB accepts up to 100kW DC, enough for a 10 to 80% top-up in around 32 minutes on a fast enough charger.

EQB trims: Sport Executive to AMG Line Premium Plus

The range walks up through several well-equipped trims. In broad terms:

  • Sport Executive. The entry trim, and generously equipped with the MBUX touchscreen, navigation, parking camera and the full safety suite. It also has the longest range, thanks to smaller wheels. The value pick.

  • Urban Edition. A well-specified trim with extra styling and equipment.

  • AMG Line Executive. Adds sportier AMG-style exterior styling and larger wheels.

  • AMG Line Premium. Steps up with more comfort and technology features.

  • AMG Line Premium Plus. The top trim, with the most luxury and technology, including a premium sound system and the fullest equipment list.

Check the individual deal for the exact equipment on each trim, as Mercedes updates specifications periodically.

The EQB as a company car

If you are a company-car driver, this is one of the strongest reasons to lease an EQB.

Company-car tax (Benefit-in-Kind, or BIK) is based mainly on a car's CO2 emissions. Because the EQB is fully electric and emits no CO2, it sits in the lowest BIK band, currently a very small percentage of the car's value. For a company-car driver that can mean paying a fraction of the monthly tax you would pay on an equivalent petrol or diesel seven-seat SUV.

Combine that with a company's ability to reclaim VAT and the fact that electricity is cheaper per mile than petrol or diesel, and the EQB can be one of the most cost-effective ways to run a premium seven-seat family car through a business.

Who is the Mercedes EQB right for?

The EQB is a specific kind of car. Being clear about that helps you choose with confidence.

The EQB is a great fit if you:

  • Need seven seats at least some of the time, and want to go electric

  • Want a premium family SUV with a Mercedes cabin

  • Can charge at or near home

  • Do mostly local and medium-distance driving, with the occasional longer trip

Look at something else if you:

  • Need to carry seven adults in comfort on long journeys often (the third row suits children best)

  • Want the very longest electric range in the class (some rivals go further)

  • Only ever need five seats and want maximum boot space for the money

Personal vs business leasing on the EQB

You can lease the EQB either way.

Personal leasing (PCH) is for private drivers. You pay a fixed monthly rental that includes VAT, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Business leasing (BCH) is for companies, sole traders and partnerships. Prices are shown excluding VAT, and VAT-registered businesses can often reclaim part of the VAT on the rentals, depending on how the car is used. As covered above, the EQB's low BIK company-car tax makes it especially attractive as a business lease.

Both options appear on every deal on this page. Use the Personal / Business toggle to switch between them.

Business and company-car tax treatment depends on your circumstances and the current tax year. Check with your accountant before deciding.

What affects your EQB lease price?

The monthly figure moves with four things:

  • Initial rental. The upfront payment, usually shown as a multiple of the monthly rental (for example 6 or 12 months). A larger initial rental lowers the monthly cost.

  • Contract length. Most deals run 24, 36 or 48 months. Longer terms usually mean lower monthly payments.

  • Annual mileage. The more miles you agree to, the higher the rental. Choose a realistic figure to avoid excess-mileage charges at the end.

  • Version and trim. A 4Matic all-wheel-drive EQB costs more per month than the 250+, and an AMG Line Premium Plus more than the Sport Executive.

Adjust these on any deal to see how the monthly price changes before you enquire.

Mercedes EQB lease deals: frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to lease a Mercedes EQB?

Lease prices depend on the version, trim, contract length, annual mileage and initial rental you choose. The current lead deals on this page start from around £834 per month including VAT on a personal lease. Use the filters on any deal to see the exact monthly price for your terms.

Does the Mercedes EQB have seven seats?

Yes. Every EQB comes with seven seats as standard, in a 5+2 layout, with a pair of extra seats that fold out of the boot floor. The third row is best suited to children or shorter adults. It is one of the few, and most affordable, seven-seat electric SUVs available.

What is the range of the Mercedes EQB?

The EQB 250+ has an official WLTP range of up to around 320 miles. The 4Matic all-wheel-drive versions have a lower range. In real-world driving expect a little less than the official figure, especially in cold weather.

How long does the Mercedes EQB take to charge?

On a home wallbox, expect an overnight charge. On a rapid public charger the EQB can go from 10 to 80% in around 32 minutes, as it accepts up to 100kW DC charging.

What's the difference between the EQB 250+ and the EQB 300 4Matic?

The 250+ is front-wheel drive with the longest range (up to around 320 miles). The 300 4Matic adds all-wheel drive and more power for quicker acceleration, but has a lower range. Choose the 250+ for range and value, or the 4Matic for grip and pace.

What's the difference between the EQB and the GLB?

The EQB is the fully electric version of the Mercedes GLB. They share the same body and seven-seat layout, but the EQB replaces the petrol or diesel engine with an electric motor and battery, so it is cheaper to fuel and cleaner to run.
